Riverbend Industries (RBI) is a private family-owned portfolio holding company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. The portfolio is primarily comprised of several small, independently operated, previously family-run businesses in the light manufacturing and distribution sectors. The RBI Home Office is comprised of several senior leaders and members of various functional teams charge with supporting RBI’s operating subsidiaries as inside consultants and subject matter experts. The Home Office serves to provide general leadership and guidance to the local subsidiary leadership teams while ensuring operational, financial, and cultural alignment with portfolio-wide standards and expectations. 

The IT System Engineer serves to help our business achieve its goals and support its customers in North America. We’re seeking an experienced systems Engineer who’s eager to use and grow his or her skills on a domestic stage. In this role, the successful individual will protect our critical information, systems, and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in the development of an overall IT strategy. From early on, you’ll help empower our breakthrough innovations, be given challenging assignments, lead initiatives, and take ownership and responsibility.   • Design and maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware
  • Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative from project scoping to delivering solution
  • Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems that enable the business to meet ever changing needs
  • Enable faster and smarter business processes and implement analytics for meaningful insights
  • Nurture dependable IT infrastructure and networking that’s always up and running
  • Partner with internal and external partners to communicate project status, activities, and achievements
  • Manage incident lifecycle through ticketing system, ensuring infrastructure and end user incidents get resolved fast and to the customers liking

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Perform server design and administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies,    print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly
  • Monitor datacenter health using preexisting management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; build, test, and      maintain new servers as needed
  • Maintain and architect internal infrastructure requirements including, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, security updates, support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments
  • Ability to find, manage and select vendors
  • Interact with the service desk and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed
  • Perform routine/scheduled audits of the systems, including backups

Education & Experience

Minimum

  • Equivalent related work experience and knowledge (minimum)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products and Windows Server OS
  • 3+ years of relevant experience (required)

Preferred

  • One of the following certifications MCSE, MCITP, CCNA, CISP
  • Bachelor’s degree in information management (preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (preferred)

Skills & Characteristics

  

  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Suite
    • Migrating all types of mail (Exchange On-premise, Gmail, etc)
    • Migrating all O365 services, Sharepoint, Onedrive, Teams
    • Intune or other MDM
  • Experience with Microsoft stack, Hyper-V, VMware, SQL Server, IIS
  • Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems; current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, system performance-monitoring tools, active directories, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching
  • Capability of traveling for a full 5 business days
  • Willingness to deliver tough deadlines such as migrating systems
  • Experience in project management, application design and integration, and cloud computing (specifically Microsoft Azure)
  • Cisco Meraki Firewall, switches, wireless, installing and managing
  • Manage enterprise datacenter hardware and software including compute, storage, backup, DR. Hands on experience managing all layers hardware, hypervisor, virtual machine, os, application
  • Required to be in on-call rotation and occasionally respond to after-hours system outage
  • Expertise in creating, analyzing, and repairing large-scale distributed systems
  • Robust experience managing datacenter infrastructure and applications on-premise or in cloud
