The portfolio is primarily comprised of several small, independently operated, previously family-run businesses in the light manufacturing and distribution sectors. The portfolio is a long-term holder of its investments and plans to grow both organically and through acquisitions into the foreseeable future.

 Position Summary:     

The Hang Point Lead is responsible for direct oversight of a critical production transition point – the movement of fabricated parts to a semi-automated powder coat paint line system. This person ensures fabricated parts meet specifications to undergo a powder coat paint process and coordinates the hanging of these parts onto the paint line chain network. The role requires effective leadership of a cross-functional team and strict adherence to quality, production, and safety standards.

An effective Hang Point Lead possesses strong communication skills, an attention to detail, an appreciation for speed and efficiency, and an understanding of the fabrication and paint line processes.  

  Primary Responsibilities

  • Approach every task with a Safety First mindset
  • With departmental coordinators and supervisors, plan, schedule, and communicate daily production activities and expectations and allocate work assignment to production workers 
  • Ensure the proper allocation of workers and resources to ensure efficient and safe activity at the transition point between fabrication and paint operations
  • Coach, mentor, train, and hold accountable production workers as a front-line leader and escalate issues to coordinators/supervisors as appropriate
  • Coordinate with leaders in other areas (to include Fabrication, Quality, Materials/Inventory, Shipping, and Maintenance) to optimize activities and address any system bottlenecks or other issues impacting output
  • Monitor production key performance indicators (KPIs) and adjust activities as necessary to meet or exceed hourly, daily, and weekly quotas
  • Review and evaluate all aspects the fabrication-to-paint line transition point, identify opportunities for operational improvement, and develop and execute continuous improvement actions
  • Be a subject matter expert on and perform production duties such as machine set-up and hanging fabricated parts on the paint lines chain network as necessary to ensure continuous operations
  • Support the compliance with and the maintenance of safety requirements in accordance with company policies and/or federal/state laws
  • Assist in other areas of production in order to ensure operational integrity
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

  

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

Minimum

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • At least 3 years working in a fabrication/light manufacturing environment
  • At least 1 year leading a team of production employees
  • Sufficiently bilingual in English and Spanish to communicate work instructions and safety guidelines

  

Preferred

  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Supply Chain, or a substantially similar field
  • 5+ years working in a fabrication/light manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years leading a team of production employees
  • 5+ years working with industrial powder coat paint technology

  

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to read, understand, and critique work instructions, process guidelines, technical operating manuals, safety instructions, and other production-related materials
  • Ability to communicate and explain work instructions to a diverse employ population
  • Ability to instill sense of urgency and hold teams and individuals accountable for their goals and responsibilities
  • Comfort with and foundational knowledge of general manufacturing, fabrication, and material flow machines, tools, equipment, processes, and activities
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common  fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Ability to effectively deal with problems involving variable in standardized situations
  • Comfort working with Microsoft 365 tools to include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-20 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs. 
  • Able to withstand lighting, noises, humidity, air quality, temperatures found in a typical production environment
